Over 200 surplus cell phones are being donated to 11 Victim Services in Southwestern Ontario.
The donation was made by the OPP West Region Headquarters, and will support victims of crime and vulnerable people in crisis or for those who may not be able to safely use their own phones.
The phones also help support a victim’s safety plan and also lesson re-victimization through preventing isolation, while allowing means of communication in case of emergencies.
Victim Services in Sarnia-Lambton, Middlesex-London and Huron County were among the agencies getting some phones.
The following agencies will receive the decommissioned OPP cell phones:
Victim Services of Bruce, Grey and Perth
Chatham-Kent Victim Services
Victim Services Elgin
Victim Services Huron County
Victim Services of Middlesex-London
Victim Assistance Services Oxford County
Victim Services of Sarnia-Lambton
Victim Services of Windsor-Essex County
