Municipalities in Bruce, Huron, and Grey Counties are receiving millions of dollars in funding for social services.
Huron Bruce MPP Lisa Thompson and Bruce-Grey-Owen Sound MPP Bill Walker issued a joint statement announcing that $3.3 Million ($3,325,305.00) will be shared between the three upper-tier municipalities ($1,770,258 to Grey County, $870,781 to Bruce County and $684,266 to Huron County).
The funding is said to be in response to an increase in COVID-19 cases in some emergency shelters and help keep vulnerable people safe.
According to the news release, the new funding will protect homeless shelter staff and residents, and help prevent more people from becoming homeless.
The Province in putting in an additional $255 Million towards the Social Services Relief Fund.
