It is Canada Road Safety Week.
Until the holiday Monday (24th), police chiefs across Canada are highlighting the message that road safety is everyone’s responsibility.
Huron County OPP are using this opportunity to shine the light on the number of motor vehicle crashes officers attended to so far in 2021.
They say prior to today (18th), there were 76 collisions occurred since January 1st, 2021.
25 resulted in injuries, and two were fatal (one involving a pedestrian and the other involved a snowmobile)
They say during the 2020 campaign, they charged 100 drivers with speeding, 5 with failing to wear a seatbelt and two were charged with impaired driving.
During the week-long campaign, Huron County OPP says they will continue a strong presence on highways and roads, and will enforce and educate road users about traffic laws.
