Ontario has started to slowly reopen the province following the latest 3rd wave of the COVID-19 pandemic.
As myFM previously reported, last weekend saw the opening of many outdoor amenities like basketball courts, and golf courses.
We spoke with Huron- Bruce MPP Lisa Thompson who tells us step one is slated to begin around June 14th.
The plan is to slowly reopen and wait 21 days between each step to see the impact of the previous steps.
Thompson says the government is very worried about variants of concern, and will be implementing the reopening plan province wide, as history has shown a regional approach does not work.
We asked Minister Thompson about the government’s back to school plan, and told us the government is taking a cautious approach and listening to advisors.
Thompson says she believes the plan is let’s see what case counts are like in 2 weeks from after the long weekend, and look positively to the future when children will be vaccinated.
