The Municipality of South Huron is joining communities across the country to lower the Canadian flag at half mast.
This following the grizzly discovery of the remains of 215 children who died while at the former Kamloops Residential School in BC.
“This horrific revelation is another reminder of the pain and suffering inflicted upon Indigenous Peoples by the residential school system. We must acknowledge and reflect upon this disgraceful chapter of Canadian history so that these unspeakable tragedies are never repeated,” said Mayor George Finch.
All flags at South Huron properties will be flown at half-staff for 215 hours…1 hour for each child.
