Coming up on Wednesday (June 2nd) the Huron-Perth Catholic District School Board and the Avon Maitland District School Board and Technical Training Group to put on a virtual event.
The event is called “The Real Deal on Skilled Trades: The Changing Culture” and will introduce female students in grades 7-12 to careers in the skilled trades.
Female mentors will share their experiences, while engaging and interacting online with the students.
Everything gets underway on Wednesday from 12:30-2:30 PM.
As part of the event each student will be given a wood project kit with tools which they will learn to build during the workshop.
The event is sponsored by the Ontario Youth Apprenticeship Program and will aid in helping students make informed choices about their future and consider other pathways including the skilled trades.
