The Ontario government has made fishing free this weekend, all in celebration of Fathers Day. On June 19th and 20th Ontario families are allowed to head out and fish without a licence.
John Yakabuski, Minister of Natural Resources said that “free fishing on Father’s Day weekend provides a fun and safe way to bond with your family.” The government does want people who are planning on taking advantage of the free fishing weekend, to make sure you follow the conservation licence catch limits, obey size limits and sanctuaries, and head online to see other fishing regulations.
Also June 20th, the province is also offering free day-use permits to more than 100 parks, 17 of which are offering pre-purchased vehicle permits. For the families that do take part in any of these actives, the government is reminding everyone that as a part of Step One, outdoor gathers are allowed up to 10 people.
