Canada Day is next week….but the Municipality of South Huron will NOT be doing any celebrations.
During Monday nights council meeting Chief Administrative Officer Dan Best brought forward a comment about Canada Day.
Councilor Aaron Neeb agreed with the CAO’s comments.
Following the CAO’s comments clerk Rebekah Msuya-Collison wrote up the following recommendation for council to vote on.
In the end council voted 6-0 (Councilor Marissa Vaughan was absent) to cancel Canada Day celebrations out of respect to the Indigenous community’s grief due to all of the sadness brought on by recent discoveries at residential schools.
