Huron Bruce MP Ben Lobb wants to clear the air about how he voted on Bill C-6, the federal legislation banning the use of conversion therapy.
Lobb and most of his Conservative colleagues voted against the bill that was passed in parliament after a request to amend it was defeated.
Lobb tells 90.5 myFM that the amendment would allow parents to have meaningful conversations with their minor children about sexual orientation.
Lobb says it keeps parents out of their minor children’s decision on sexual orientation, something he and others wanted to remain.
He adds Justin Trudeau had six years to pass the legislation and it could be all for not if there is an election called before the bill gets through in the senate.
Lobb was one of 63 MPs that voted against the bill saying the Liberals would not allow an amendment that would keep parental involvement.
Lobb’s decision has outraged many local LGBTQ+ groups including Kincardine Pride and LGBTQ+ Allies of Huron County.
