A new video made by the Ausable Bayfield Maitland Valley Source Protection Committee (SPC) shows signs that alert the public about zones near municipal wells where drinking water sources are most at risk.
The video, hosted by Dave Frayne, a municipal representative on the SPC explains the signs and how they were made to create public awareness of vulnerable areas around municipal wells and Great Lakes intakes in the Province of Ontario. The video shows samples of the Drinking Water Protection Zones located in various municipalities. Currently, Frayne explains in the video, there are 88 signs in our region.
The Drinking Water Protection Zone signs video is the fifth video in a series about source protection. The committee have seen that videos are an effective way to safely reach out to the public during the pandemic with over 10,000 social media views so far.
