An investigation has been opened into a Scam in Huron County after a senior citizen was bilked out of $700,000.
Huron County OPP say they only became aware of the incident once the victim’s daughter contacted them.
The two had met through an online messaging service 3 years ago.
The resident has sent money to a person she thought was a surgeon for the United Nations, for things like flights, medical treatments and a ransom for a fake kidnapping.
Police remind everyone to be careful who you send money to, especially if you meet them online.
