myFM has learned that Huron County OPP will have office space in Exeter.
The Avon Maitland District School Board has reached an agreement with the OPP to let police use office space in the high schools in Exeter and Wingham.
This is the latest in the saga as myFM reported the OPP would close local detachments for a centralized location in Clinton.
The OPP asked for office space in Wingham and Exeter but the councils declined the request.

Full statement from Dr. Lisa Walsh the AMDSB Director of Education
As part of the Avon Maitland District School Board’s commitment to working with community partners, and in line with the excellent relationship the AMDSB has with our OPP partners, we have entered into an agreement with Huron OPP to use an office in two of our schools (FE Madill Secondary School in Wingham and South Huron District High School) for administrative purposes. This office will be utilized by OPP staff when they are in need of a space to complete paperwork and other administrative tasks as required by their position.
Their use of this space will not be for the purposes of monitoring students but if a need should arise when they are physically present, they may be called to assist. If the officers need to interact with students directly, arrangements must first be made with the principal or designate.
