Huron Perth Public Health, the Middlesex-London Health Unit and Southwestern Public Health announced together on Wednesday new mandates for sports and recreation facilities.
Starting on October 31st anyone over the age of 12 who enters an indoor area for a sports or recreational fitness facility will be required to show proof of vaccination.
Dr. Miriam Klassen, Medical Officer of Health for HPPH explains that this means everyone!
This decision was made due to the nature of sport and fitness activities, and how COVID can be spread easier during these activities as there is longer time without a mask, longer exposure to others, heavy breathing, the general nature of sport being one where there is close contact.
All three health units will be issuing Letter of Instruction to the owners and operators of the facilities in their communities, and it will outline the rules in place. For those who do not follow this new regulation as of October 31st, there are fine and other measures that can be taken.
