With a number of residents spending more time at home following the introduction on the province’s Modified Step Two, the Government of Ontario is providing electricity-rate relief to small businesses and families.
Beginning Tuesday, January 18, electricity prices will be set at the current off-peak rate of 8.2 cents per kilowatt-hour, 24 hours a day. This accounts for less than half the cost of the current on-peak rate.
The off-peak rate will automatically apply to residential, small businesses and farms who pay regulated rates set by the Ontario Energy Board, and will benefit customers on both Time-of-Use and Tiered rate plans.
The electricity-rate relief will remain in effect for at least 21 days.
