A London man is looking to change the Cannabis industry, after finding many benefits to the plant after experiencing his own health issues. Jeremy Smith was diagnosed with Crohn’s disease and eosinophilic esophagitis and the medication he was prescribed lead to more issues for him.
Then he found CBD, which helped with pain along with many other things, and now he is looking to change the rules surrounding cannabis so that restaurants and eatery’s can sell food infused with weed.
Smith says that he is in this for the long haul, and after finding out the many health benefits for people in chronic pain, cancer patients, and more, he thinks that something like this will benefit those people, but also it will help change the stigma surrounding cannabis.
Smith, as a part of his mission, had over 100 different cannabis retailers in Southwestern Ontario have his petition, something he needed to show proof of concept, which he now has thousands of signatures on of people in support of this.
Smith says that when this happens, the restaurants will have options, of just CBD based food, food with both CBD and THC, and all the other cannabinoids that aren’t as talked about but also have many benefits. It will be a place for education on the industry, and it will help grow the industry.
Next steps in this for Smith is meeting with more ministers, and with Premier Doug Ford to discuss this. Right now, he’s working on making moves at the provincial level, and then taking it to the Federal level.
