The Ontario Provincial Police is reminding the public to be careful when accepting large bills that may seem suspicious.
If someone suspects that they have received counterfeit money, contact the police.
Try to remember the description of the person that gave you the funds so that police can conduct a more thorough investigation.
Counterfeit money is being circulated in our area and it seems to be American currency more often than Canadian currency.
March is fraud prevention month and the OPP encourages the public to stay educated and informed to reduce the risk of being a victim of fraud. Knowledge is power.
