An OPP cruiser at the London detachment off Exeter Road.
Huron County OPP is reporting another increase in the number of impaired driving charges.
This is the third year in a row that we have seen an increase with a total of 102 charges in 2021.
A closer look into the numbers saw 41% of charges also involved some sort of crash, and alcohol was a factor in 2 fatal collisions.
All nine municipalities saw impaired driving issues with North Huron and ACW seeing the least, and Bluewater leading the way with 21 charges.
Another startling stat is the drivers being arrested seem to be younger, with 37% under the age of 30, and men leading the way with 81% of the charges.
And it’s not just alcohol as 23 of the charges were impaired by drugs.
