Ontario Parks does have a solution for those who don’t have a PFD.
Always check the water conditions before going to the beach, lake or any body of water.
Here are some more tips for when you are on the water:
– Small vessels like canoes and kayaks are required by law to have safety equipment like: a personal floatation device, 15m of rope, a sound device like a whistle, an extra paddle, a water bailing device and a watertight flashlight.
– A first aid kit comes in handy
-Swim in the designated swimming areas
– Always swim with a buddy
– Let someone know when you are going for a swim
– Test the waters before entering
– Don’t swim under the influence
