Running for what may be his 5th term on council, Alex Westman has once again thrown his hat into the ring for Ward 3 of Lucan Biddulph.
Westman has 16 years under his belt on council. He has a long family history in Lucan-Biddulph and he believes he has what it takes to stand up for the people.
Westman’s Great Grandfather served as a township councilor and reeve. His Grandfather served on the village trustees and helped found the Fire Station. His father was on the Fire Department for 50 years, 12 as chief. Westman says he feels it’s his duty to be there for the people.
Westman gave 30 years to the Fire Department, “I feel strongly to serve my community” he told myFM.
He also says there are projects on the go that he wants to see finished like the Lucan Biddulph Memorial Community Centre which is being renovated along with the swimming pool. He also mentions that the town recently bought a plot of land to make 4 soccer fields. Westman is proud of the growth that Lucan Biddulph has created, but want’s to see it properly managed.
Westman told myFM that he lives by words his father spoke to him the night of his first election, “You shouldn’t be a politician; just be yourself and look after the community. The biggest thing you can do is listen”.
