Huron East’s incumbent Mayor, Bernie MacLellan is running for reelection.
MacLellan brings a huge background in Politics, havening been the Mayor for 12 years, Deputy Mayor 10 years before and a councilor for 4 years before that.
MacLellan says One of his main priorities if reelected, is making sure more housing goes up.
MacLellan touched on that if more younger families come to the area, it could help with work force issues the Municipality has been facing.
MacLellan is most prod of the reconstruction of Main Street in Seaforth. In the process of the reconstruction, phase 1 of the sewer system into Egmondville was done. He also made note of the reconstruction of Highway 8 from the lights to the Hospital. There are 2 large housing developments underway and more proposals in the process.
MacLellans top priority is housing. He told myFM that there are housing developments starting in Brussels. He also says they are planning something different for the housing development. He says they want to develop more towards younger families and people by adding amities they would enjoy. MacLellan also made point that by bringing in more younger families, it will help with the lack of work force labour in the Municipality.
MacLellan says that the work force issue is one of the biggest problems that the Municipality is facing, along with inflation and rising insurance costs.
Maclellan also has a message for everyone, even though there has been a lot of seats on council acclaimed, he encourages everyone to vote. He says it’s important to exercise your right and to really look into and speak with candidates.
