Huron Counties Paramedic Service has received onetime funding for its Community Paramedicine Program.
Just under $400,000 was given by Ontario Health for their High Intensity Supports at Home Program.
This funding will allow paramedics to help people get treatment in their own homes, to have them stay in their homes for as long as possible.
The funding will allow them to have two full-time community paramedics and cover the cost of delivering the service for a year.
The Community Paramedics can help with things like managing chronic disease, administering COVID treatments and vaccinations, flu shots, blood draws and palliative care if needed.
The province is looking into alternate funding (or the same) for next year.
