Glen McNeil, Mayor of the Township of Ashfield-Colborne-Wawanosh, has been re-elected as Warden of Huron County.
He tells myFM he is very thankful to Huron County Council for their trust in him.
Three goals he has for this term is the continuation of installing Broadband network, work force and housing issues and the stress on health care.
McNeil says during the pandemic Council realized the need for connection. Huron County Council committed $2.5 Million to the broadband project. He gives a big thank you to the telcoms and upper levels of government for their hard work and continued support.
The Warden realizes that the demand for a larger work force in Huron County is large. He says Huron County welcomes New Canadians into Huron County with open arms.
But with new residents comes a bigger need for housing. Huron County is building an affordable and rent-geared-to-income housing unit that will also have supportive housing. $20.4 Million has been allocated to the 39-unit building being built in Goderich.
McNeil also tells myFM that through the pandemic they have seen first-hand the health care system struggle. “Now is the time to plan for the (future) pressures”, he says.
McNeil says that life is dynamic with a lot of moving parts. And so when challenges present themselves, you work through them.
A huge thank you goes from McNeil to Huron County Council for their support and to the dedicated and talented staff.
McNeil says that council is the ‘What’ and Staff is the ‘How’. “Staff is the extension to implementing efforts, to make them a reality.”
