Old man winter is making it known he’s back in town.
A huge storm is expected to hit most of Ontario this weekend and we should be prepared for the worst case scenario.
Emergency Management Specialist, Ibrahin Marwa with the Middlesex London Health Unit tells myFM that if the power goes out, you should try to keep your fridge and freezer sealed as much as possible.
Marwa says you could put refrigerated items in the freezer or put ice in the fridge to make food last longer in the safety zone.
It may be good to stock up on nonperishable food items over the next day or so. Food like bread and granola bars are a good idea. Canned meats, vegetables and fruits will offer the proper nutrients to keep you healthy, says Marwa.
He also recommends stocking up on other essentials your household may need.
Marwa also tells myFM that you can contact your municipalities emergency coordinator for any other questions you may have.
