Did you know that coyotes are more active during the winter months as they are searching for food.
There have been some reports of coyotes in our community, so myFM has some tips to help keep you and your family safe.
The key safety tip is to make your property less inviting for coyotes, do this by limiting outdoor attractions like food and garbage.
Also make sure you clean up after your dog as feces can attract coyotes, never leave pets unattended, close off spaces that could be used as hiding spots and use motion lights.
If you do see a coyote, keep your distance, and it will likely avoid you, but never turn your back or run…remain calm, stand tall, wave your hands and make lots of noise while backing away slowly.
