Bluewater Council passed the Bluewater Recreation Master Plan unanimously at their January 16th meeting.
Maggie Off, Manager of Facilities says the plan will act as a guide moving forward.
Councilor Peter Walden added he was happy this has finally happened for the municipality.
Walden also wants to remind the public that nothing in the document is what is going to be done, the plan is a guide and has recommendations.
As myFM reported, the plan recommends almost $8 Million for the municipality.
The plan shows a recommendation to renovate a recreation facility or build a new one to provide multipurpose spaces or a gym. ‘Drop-in’ programming, helping local recreation providers, coordinating recreation programs between Zurich and Hensall and making ‘try it’ programs and classes was also recommended.
The new Master Plan will help with recreation decision making until 2037.
Over the next 15 years, additional spending will cost about $8 Million. Including $900,000 for programs and events, along with $2.88 Million for facilities, $3 Million for Parks and such, another $900,000 for services, $100,000 for water access points and $90,000 for trails
