The Ontario government released their health care plan “Your Health: A Plan for Connected and Convenient Care”
Lisa Thompson, MPP of Huron-Bruce tells myFM the plan has 3 pillars it follows.
The first pillar being Right Care in the Right Place, the second one Faster Access to Care, and the third Hiring More Health Care Workers.
Thompson says the plan is already in motion. For pillar one, ‘Right Care in the Right Place’, the Ontario Government has expanded the amount of ailments pharmacists can prescribe. In one month Thompson says there has been over 40,000 patient visits to pharmacists in Ontario looking for fixes to minor ailments. EMS have also been provided more jurisdiction. You can now get health care right to your home, saving a trip to the ER.
For pillar two, Faster Access to Care, she has worked with the community to introduce operational funding. The funding has gotten 3 new MRI machines to Huron Bruce, one in Goderich, Kincardine and Wingham. Huron-Bruce will also be getting a CAT scan coming as well.
For Pillar two, Hiring More Health Care Workers, the Ontario Government is expanding the Medical School in Brampton and investing in Health Care Learning opportunities in communities.
