A St. Mary’s woman is out $16 thousand due to the Grandparent scam.
Police learned the victim was contacted by someone claiming they were an officer with Brantford Police contacted them and said the victims grandson was arrested.
The scammer then told the victim that her grandson would be freed without a record if money was sent over.
The scammer visited the victim on two occasinons once one Febuary 9th and 14th.
The scammer is described as a white man about 5 foto 8 inches tall with black hair, a slim build, and he was wearing regular clothes and a mask.
All residents in the area are asked to check their cameras to see if they caught anything suspicious.
Anyone with any information is asked to contact police or Crime Stoppers.
