Ontario is now considering banning TikTok from work phones after the federal government did the same earlier this week.
Prime Minister Trudeau said its a matter of safety.
Ontario Treasury Board spokesman Ian Allan says it’s something the province is looking into.
A review by the chief information officer of Canada determined that TikTok, owned by a company with ties to the Chinese government, presents an unacceptable level of risk to privacy and security.
No word yet from any of our local municipalities if they’ll be following suit. If the province did ban the app, it would likely affect many local workers.
That could include school boards, MPP offices, and other provincially run organizations.
