May 1, 2023, is the next deadline to apply for money from the Huron Heritage Fund.
The purpose of the fund is to “encourage the preservation of heritage assets and activities of heritage importance to the County of Huron and its residents.”
Since 2007 the fund has supported local historical publications, the Huron Perth Junior Farmers, the Bayfield Historical Society, St. Josephs Kingsbridge Community Centre, the Postcards from Huron County podcast, and the restoration of the Seaforth Post Office.
“The County will contribute up to 50% of the costs of a project to a maximum of $5,000 based on applications received,” according to Beth Rumble, Director of Cultural Services.
Projects that make the grade must assist in the preservation and restoration of heritage landmarks, historic buildings, and objects of historical significance not owned by the County of Huron.
More information about the application process can be found on the Huron County Museum’s website at https://www.huroncountymuseum.ca/huron-heritage-fund/.
