Huron Perth Public Health Unit is looking for the owner of a dog that scratched a child at a dog park on Wellington Street in Mitchell. The accident took place on March 28th, at about 5:30 pm.
The dog is described as a purebred Bernese Mountain dog, black, white, and brown in colour, and not yet fully grown. It was being walked by a female who stated she was taking care of the dog for a sibling.
HPPH would like to know if the dog is up to date on its rabies vaccinations. If it is not, the child will need a complete series of rabies shots.
HPPH reminds people to always try to obtain the contact information of the owner of the animal involved in a biting or scratching incident.
If you are the owner or have any information about this dog, please contact Huron Perth Public Health at 1-888-221-2133 ext 3670. After hours or over the weekend, call the main number and follow the prompts to reach our answering service.
