Huron Perth Public Health issued a boiled water advisory Wednesday afternoon to users on the Shakespeare water system, after recent water samples indicated unsatisfactory levels of bacterial contamination.
The advisory remains in effect until lifted by Huron Perth Public Health. Until then, members of the public are advised to boil all water for at least one minute before it is used.
Examples of important uses for boiled water include
- drinking
- tooth brushing or washing dentures
- washing dishes
- preparing beverages or formula
- washing vegetables, fruit, or other foods
Those most at risk include the elderly, young children, and people with weak immune systems.
If you are experiencing symptoms after consuming contaminated water from this area, please contact Huron Perth Public Health.
