The Grand Bend and Area Horticultural Society has its eyes on the skies, as they prepare for its bustling spring season.
Don’t mistake them for a bunch of humble green thumbs, President of the horticultural society Wendy Rush says that they work diligently to improve their community
The group’s “Bright Up the Bend” campaign was initially geared toward businesses, but in the past couple of years, many people have asked if they can also sponsor the group’s efforts as individuals.
Locals now have the option to sponsor a flower of their choice – and the initiative is a chance for the community to get involved in keeping a variety of municipal properties and local features beautiful for everyone to enjoy.
If you’d like to sponsor a flower, you can do so anytime in the month of May – and you can find their contact information on our website.
While historically, the group has relied on boots on the ground to rally the funds used to purchase soil, flowers, and fertilizers, Rush says that through COVID they had to take a different approach.
The “Bright Up the Bend” campaign was the group’s solution. Initially geared toward businesses, but in the past couple of years, Rush says that many people have asked if they can also sponsor the group’s efforts as individuals.
Locals now have the option to get personally involved in keeping a variety of municipal properties and local features beautiful for everyone to enjoy.
If you’d like to sponsor a flower or make a donation to the Grand Bend Horticultural Society, you can email them at gbahortsociety@gmail.com or call them at (519) 694-8977
