The Lake Huron Coastal Centre hosted a beach clean up in Goderich last weekend, as part of a series of 13 cleanups all down the coastline from Tobermory to Sarnia.
Alyssa Bourassa – Coastal Stewardship Technician with the centre said that although the initiative protects wildlife, it’s also important to protect our drinking water,
Before the year is out, they have set a goal of 700 volunteers and 1000 pounds of trash, and after Saturday’s event Bourassa says that they are well on their way to reaching that goal,
Bourassa said that the cleanups are vital to maintaining tourism,
The Lake Huron Coastal Centre is hosting their Grand Bend cleanup on Saturday July 29th, from 10am-12pm on the South Beach. If you want to get involved, you can go to lakehuron.ca/volunteer
