The Municipality of Bluewater reviewed a by-law change last Monday, which has raised some eyebrows in the community.
The proposed change would prohibit parking on boulevards – which is the space between the sidewalk and the road. The municipality brought forth the change with the intention of streamlining snow clearance, as well as clearing sightlines for drivers.
Counsellor Winona Bailey raised several concerns, including one about the safety of residents using street parking when this proposed change would take effect,
She also raised concerns about the responsibility of maintenance,
Other concerns held by counsellors include the obstruction of heritage sights with signage to indicate exceptions, as well as a rise in appeals of tickets when enforcement begins.
Counsellors moved to defer the by-law decision to their next meeting on Monday, May 1st. For more information about the proposal, visit municipalityofbluewater.ca
