After counsellors moved to defer the by-law decision to their next meeting following discussion on April 24, as of their meeting on May 1st, the proposed by-law has been accepted by the Municipality of Bluewater.
The new by-law prohibits parking on boulevards within the Municipality of Bluewater, except where posted signage designates otherwise. The boulevard is defined as the space between a road and the sidewalk.
Counsellor Groot raised concerns about residents using sections of their own yards for recreational purposes,
These concerns were addressed by Manager of Development Aaron Stewardson, who said that parking on boulevards has always been prohibited, and that enforcement would not be on a day-to-day basis,
Mayor Klopp said that he hopes the move will help regulate vehicle crowding on streets that have short term rentals, and that the use of boulevards is always intended to be temporary and brief.
For more information about the by-law and noted exceptions, you can find it on the municipal website at municipalityofbluewater.ca
