A Stratford teen has been sentenced to 8 years in prison, after fatally stabbing a man from Exeter in Grand Bend last May.
Nineteen year old Michael Compton pleaded guilty to manslaughter last year for the stabbing, the sentencing was delivered in Sarnia on Monday (May 1).
When Compton is released, he will be younger than the victim – Zachary Hartman – was when he died, at the age of 27.
The two encountered each other in a parking lot while Compton was looking for his cellphone, and exchanged verbal blows that soon became physical, before Compton stabbed Hartman once in the chest. He died in the hospital shortly after.
