As the weather starts to get warmer, Huron OPP have issued a reminder about what members of the public should do if they encounter a bear.
Although it is uncommon to see bears in the area, there have been several sightings reported over the past few years, with one reported sighting North of Goderich just yesterday morning.
If you encounter a black bear, emergencies that would require you to call 9-1-1 include: if the bear is lingering at a site, stalking people, wandering into public gatherings or active school yards, attempting to enter a residence, or killing livestock.
If the sighting is not an emergency, you can report the sighting via a non-emergency line, or by calling the Ministry of Forestry and Natural Resources.
