South Huron council reviewed several changes to the Provincial Planning Statement on Monday.
The plan raised some eyebrows by proposing a series of changes with the goal of achieving the construction of 1.5 million new homes across Ontario by 2031 by more broadly allowing the severance of land.
Huron County Planner Craig Metzger was alarmed by the changes,
Counsellor Aaron Neeb also voiced some issues he had with the proposal,
The Province’s proposal to allow for residential development through lot creation raised many concerns including restrictions on the placement of new barns, reduction in development within existing settlements, lost opportunities for infrastructure efficiency, and increased demand on municipalities to provide enhanced rural services.
