A string of bear sightings in Bluewater have OPP warning residents to be cautious, and secure any possible food sources – like bird feeders, and garbage cans.
Last week a bear was spotted further North in Huron County, however there have been multiple sightings further South over the last week – the most recent of which was in between St. Joseph’s and Bayfield.
If you encounter a black bear, emergencies that would require you to call 9-1-1 include: if the bear is lingering at a site, stalking people, wandering into public gatherings or active school yards, attempting to enter a residence, or killing livestock.
If the sighting is not an emergency, you can report the sighting via a non-emergency line, or by calling the Ministry of Forestry and Natural Resources.
