The Ontario Healthcare Coalition is running an independent public referendum about creeping privatization in Ontario hospitals.
On May 26th and 27th, you can cast your vote to help voice your concern about the Provincial Government’s increase in paid services.
There will be hundreds of physical polling stations cropping up across Ontario. Locally, our physical polling station is at the Pinery Market outside Grand Bend, however, you can also vote online.
Despite a series of election promises not to privatize health clinics, the Provincial Government increased funding to private clinics by $24 million in July 2021. Presently, public hostipal funding in Ontario is second lowest per capita of any province in Canada, and the lowest as a percentage of provincial GDP.
The federal government has issued a warning against the privatization of services, threatening several provinces with claw backs in federal funding.
