Across southwestern Ontario, OPP West Region detachments laid more than 2600 charges during 2023 Canada Road Safety Week.
Throughout May 16 to May 22, officers here in Huron County conducted more than 300 traffic stops, and laid 268 charges, with the most common being speeding at 159 charges.
Other charges included 4 for impaired driving, 16 seatbelt infractions, 14 charges of operating without proper insurance, 4 distracted driving, as well as a few various charges like stunt driving, failure to yield, driving while under the influence of alcohol or drugs, and careless driving.
Officers also issued 92 warnings unaccompanied by charges.
