Huron County’s first ever Pride Festival is coming up on June 10th, and the weekend will be packed with activities for everyone.
The festival begins with a queer movie night at the Huron County museum, followed by a packed day on the mainstage on the Square in Goderich filled with drag shows, a health panel hosted by Maitland Valley Health Center, and more.
Vice-Chair of Huron County Pride Dawn Allen (she/her) says that the festival is the first of it’s kind in Huron County,
She says that there’s lots of reasons that celebrating Pride is important, but that she’s experienced the impact events like this can make first hand,
Allen says that Pride month, and Pride events aren’t just for individuals from the LGBTQ+ community, but that it’s important that we all participate to create a place where everyone is welcome,
Although the event is a safe space for the LGBTQ+ community, all allies are also welcome. The event is fun for the whole family, with face painting, a photo booth, music, and more – it’s also a perfect opportunity to check out Goderich’s new rainbow crosswalk.
