As we head into summer, the change in season is also an indicator that you should get your well tested.
Rebecca Spencer – Public Health Inspector in Training at Huron Perth Public Health says that you should test your well as the seasons change to Spring, Summer, and Fall, not just when you think it smells or tastes bad,
It’s also recommended that you test your well anytime there are any upgrades or repairs.
Generally speaking, Spencer says that there’s a lack of understanding when it comes to testing,
Spencer says that getting your water tested is accessible for everyone,
Tests will indicate any bacterial contamination, whether the water appears to be completely fine, or not.
That being said, if you are on municipal water, it is not necessary to test your water – there are rigorous tests done by every municipality with regularity.
For more information about how you can get your well tested, you can visit their website at hpph.ca/water or call their toll-free line at 1 888 221-2133 and ask to speak to an inspector.
