There’s a special, local connection to a new set of stamps recently released by Canada Post.
Their “Let’s Take the Ferry” line of stamps features artwork celebrating five ferries still operating in Canadian waters.
Included in the series is the Chi-Cheemaun, which crosses the Georgian Bay between Tobermory and Manitoulin Island.
Built in 1974, the Chi-Cheemaun is the third-largest passenger vessel sailing the Great Lakes, with a capacity of over 600 passengers.
Artwork for the Chi-Cheemaun’s stamp actually comes from Goderich-based drone photographer Rob Boyce.
According to Boyce, the photo was taken in 2018 as part of a promotional rebranding campaign.
The stamps are available as a souvenir sheet of five stamps, a booklet of 10 stamps or as part of a special souvenir sheet.
