In a tense and dramatic scene that unfolded in Brussels on Saturday, a suspect has been apprehended by law enforcement after a prolonged standoff with the authorities.
The incident, which kept the neighborhood on edge for several hours, saw OPP cruisers descend on Turnberry Street, blocking off the stretch of road between Queen Street and CP Road.
The police presence was established before noon, and the situation escalated when a tactical unit arrived on the scene around 2 p.m. Officers from the tactical unit were observed with weapons drawn, their focus squarely on a residence.
Shortly after the tactical team’s arrival, a suspect emerged from the residence, leading to their immediate arrest.
Around 3 p.m., the police began the process of clearing the area, and shortly thereafter, Turnberry Street was reopened to traffic, signaling the end of the standoff and a return to normalcy for the neighborhood.
