Traditionally, schools resume the Tuesday after Labour Day – this year, parents will have to wait one more day, to send their kids back.
Students in Avon Maitland District School Board (AMDSB) and Huron Perth Catholic District School Board (HPCDSB) will start classes on Wednesday, September 6 – with the first Tuesday being marked as a PA day for educators.
Aside from the September 5 PA day, the boards have planned six additional professional activity days for the academic year, occurring on October 20, November 17, February 2, April 19, June 7, and June 28 (the last day of school).
This scheduling adjustment aligns with the Ontario government’s efforts, outlined in Bill 98, to enhance academic achievement and job skills through mandated public reporting of school boards’ professional development sessions.
