The Ontario Ministry of the Solicitor General is working to enhance the regulatory framework for policing across Ontario, seeking to modernize existing standards.
The initiative will involve the identification of key aspects to be regulated from the Policing Standards Manual – the heart of this transformation lies in feedback and insights from the public.
Guided by the Community Safety and Policing Act, the proposed overhaul places a pivotal responsibility on police service boards and the Commissioner of the OPP.
Lambton Shores residents are invited to contribute their perspectives by participating in the Solicitor General’s Survey – it’s open until August 28th, 2023. A link is available on our website.
The proposed regulation outlines specific standards and necessitates chiefs of police to establish protocols and other measures in relation to core policing functions including Crime Prevention, Law Enforcement, Maintaining Public Peace, Emergency Response, and Assistance to Victims of Crime.
