Huron Perth Catholic District School Board (HPCDSB) took the stage at the South Huron Council meeting on August 14th.
Chris Roehrig, Director of Education at HPCDSB acknowledged that challenges lay ahead.
The district faces the global staffing shortage crisis, which is being seen in every sector,
The district also braces for the implementation of changes to reading and mathematics programs, which will require extensive training for educators.
Additionally, Roehrig highlighted the re-emergence of cursive writing in the curriculum,
He also addressed the labor unrest potential, as one union is considering a strike mandate in the fall.
Demographic studies project flat or moderate growth in student enrollment – but the board has their work cut out for them facing the hurdles that lie ahead in the 2023-2024 school year.
