Ticket ice in the Municipality of Bluewater is going to be sold at a flat amount, as opposed to charging per person, as of a council meeting on August 14th.
The standing per-person rate of $8.85, resulted in 97 hours of last-minute ice sold during the 2022/2023 ice season generated only $3,160 in revenue – the change would generate $5,560 if the same number of hours are sold.
Councillor Whetstone raised concerns about groups abusing ticket ice to reduce rental costs,
The consensus was that while utilization remains a priority, it must go hand in hand with maintaining fairness and financial sustainability.
