Big Brothers Big Sisters of South Huron is gearing up for their 7th annual dinner and auction – “Harvesting Hope” on Friday September 29th.
Executive Director Amy Wilhelm says that she’s looking forward to the mentoring auction, which is new this year,
The event kicks off with a cocktail hour at 5pm at The Barn Restaurant and Pub just south of Exeter, setting the stage for a harvest-style buffet dinner served at 6pm.
An online auction also runs for a week in advance, allowing supporters to bid on items and experiences.
The funds raised help financially support not only the ongoing efforts of Big Brothers Big Sisters, but also helps kids that can’t afford sports or lessons,
Wilhelm also says that they hope to educate the public about the services that they offer,
Big Brothers Big Sisters of South Huron relies heavily on community support as they are not government-funded and do not receive base funding from a national office. The organization’s goal for “Harvesting Hope” is to raise $15,000.
According to Wilhelm, demand for their services is higher than ever coming out of COVID,
For those who can’t attend the event but still want to support the cause, there’s an online auction that goes live on September 24th at 9pm and closes on October 1st at 8pm.
Tickets for the dinner event have a deadline of September 22nd and can be ordered through the Big Brothers Big Sisters of South Huron website.
